Whaka-Ora Healthy Harbour Plan showcase, 26 July 2020

You are invited to the Whaka-Ora Healthy Harbour Plan showcase on Sunday, 26 July from 1PM onwards at Living Springs in Allandale.

Plan to restore the Harbour as mahinga kai

This is a chance to learn more about the goals the Plan is trying to achieve – to restore Whakaraupō/Lyttelton Harbour as mahinga kai.

Mahinga kai is the traditional Māori process of gathering and cultivating foods and resources.

Event details

What: The Whaka-Ora Healthy Harbour showcase event
When: Sunday 26 July, from 1–4PM
Where: Living Springs, 218 Bamfords Rd, Allandale

This is a family event and activities will be available for children throughout the day.

Afternoon tea will be provided.

Agenda

A short tour around Living Springs at 1PM will start the showcase, before mana whenua Ngāti Wheke welcomes everyone to the formal beginning of the hui at 2PM.

A selection of experts will speak on various topics including:

  • the Harbour’s volcanology
  • pest control and trapping
  • planting.

In the final part of the afternoon, there will be a chance to ask questions of the experts and find out how you, or your community group, can be involved in the success of the plan.
